Do I need electrical experience?

No. This program starts with electrical fundamentals and teaches the tools, materials, and tasks covered in Level 1.

How much of the program is hands-on?

The final week is hands-on training in Portland, Texas, following three weeks of live classroom instruction. You'll complete electrical tasks and required NCCER performance profiles with your instructor.

Can I attend classroom instruction on Zoom?

What credentials are included?

Your program includes NCCER Electrical Level 1 training, the NCCER Industrial Electrician Knowledge Verified credential, CSSO, and OSHA 10.

Is pre-apprenticeship the same as a journeyman license?

Pre-apprenticeship prepares you to begin your electrical career. A Texas journeyman license requires qualifying supervised work experience and an exam. We help you with your apprentice application and explain the next steps.

Do the class hours count toward a Texas journeyman license?

Not under the standard Texas licensing path. Texas requires supervised on-the-job electrical work documented by the licensed Master Electrician who supervised you. You may apply to take the journeyman exam after documenting at least 7,000 hours, but 8,000 qualifying hours are required for licensure. We teach NEC fundamentals, help you apply for an apprentice license and show you how to begin tracking qualifying hours once you are working under proper licensed supervision.

Where can I ask about NCCER electrical testing?

Call Rig Right Texas at 361-600-8957 to ask about current assessment and testing availability in Portland, Texas.
