Do I Need Training or Only an Assessment?

An assessment is for someone who already knows the work and needs to document that knowledge or skill. Training is for someone who still needs instruction, review, hands-on practice or help getting ready for the test.

An assessment may be the right choice when:

What Should I Bring to an NCCER Assessment?

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. If you already have an NCCER number, send it to us before your appointment and bring it with you.

Before test day, confirm:

• Your legal name matches your identification.
• We have the correct NCCER number, when you already have one.
• You are registered for the correct craft and level.
• You know whether you are taking a written assessment, practical exam or both.
• You have received the appointment time and testing instructions.

Do not wait until you arrive to find out which assessment your employer requires. Send us the job requirement, craft and level before we schedule the test.

Can I Take an NCCER Assessment in Spanish?

Spanish testing is available for many NCCER assessments. It is not available for every test, so call or text us with the exact craft and level before registering.

Rig Right Texas can confirm whether the assessment is available in Spanish, what identification is required and whether a practical examination is also part of the credential process.

What Happens if I Do Not Pass Every Section?

Not passing does not automatically mean you need to start an entire program over.

Your results can show where you need more work. You can use that information to prepare for the weak areas before retesting. Rig Right Texas offers focused support for workers who need help with specific topics, calculations or hands-on skills.

If you need focused help before trying again, ask about prescription training and retest preparation.

Can an Employer Schedule Testing for a Whole Crew?

Yes. Employers do not have to schedule every worker as a completely separate request.

If you already understand advanced rigging, load calculations, sling angles, equipment inspection, center of gravity and lift-planning concepts, you may be ready to schedule the assessment.
